Mood Board: Podcast! Warm Modern Industrial with Soft Pastels - Oh, It's a VIBE

Introduction

Oh, It’s a Vibe, It’s Vibe! Lets goooo. Okay, I saw the vision and I am excited to share it. This is for my creatives in the podcast space. Fun Fact, I used to have two podcasts, it maybe still somewhere on SoundCloud. Podcast started as audio-only but now evolved into audio and visual content. From my experience the key aspect of a great podcast is having an intentional space for you and guest to curate in. You gotta create the VIBE - I am going to lead you into Modern Industial masculine energy with soft pastels to bring in the feminine energy a dual balance for any guest to feel seen and welcomed on your show.

The Color Palette

Let’s begin with the color scheme, by setting the tone with Charcoal gray, matte black, deep reds. This is our base combination and the masculine energy givinrgy. The next layer is Dusty Rose (it’s hues of the reds), Sage green, and muted peach. Did the green throw you off?!?! Stay with me, sometimes with accent colors the real beauty is the surpise the unexpected that actually works. Some call it magic, I call it “in the details of possibilities”. Of course the second layer combination is where the feminie energy gets to dance. The next scheme is our material and texture - this is really going to push us into the direction we want to go. Which is reclaimed wood, brushed brass. leather, velvet. You can start to gain a sense of the different textures, but we are going to be intentional with having exposed concrete, soft textiles and metal finishes. Can you imagine it already, I’m not done yet - we are goinng to dial it in even more. Drop into the right frequency.

Furniture and Decor

You know as a creative, the art of your medium is just as important to final product. When it comes to podcast, furinture and equipment should part of the story. It affects how your guests feel, how your content looks on camera, and how smoothly your sessions flows. Let break it down.

Design Intentionally

Start by thinking beyond aestherics. What kind of converstions do you want to have? Is it Deep and intimate? Then consider a moody vibe approach. The layout, seating style, and spacing will support dialogue. If done incorrectly it can block the flow maybe even your guest will shut-down and close off. For example, round coffee tables promote openness and equality. Armchairs with low backs keep sightlines clean for cameras. Remember if you placed the chairs too close it can leave guest feeling awkward and uneasy leading them to not open up. On the flip side, if you placed the chairs too far apart you can lose the connection, guest starts to feel distance. Have it just right!

Equipment as Art

The quality lies in the equipment separating you from amateur to professional and we are all about leveling up in life. Be open minded think about the equipment as an art piece to the space, for example the microphone stands, often time it sticks out like a loud note! If you pick the right type of mic stand, it blends into the overall scene. This subtle move turns your space into a place of comfort instead an interrogation.

  1. Accent Chairs

Look for a Burnt-orange leather armchairs with clean lines and black tapered metal legs. That genuine or faux leather, powder-coated steel frame.

  2. Coffee Table

You can honestly pick any coffee table, often it is not seen in the video while recording. Every detail does matter, so when shopping, look for a round coffee table with a reclaimed wood tabletop and a matte black metal pedestal base. Overall, you want it to have a rustic wood grain and matte black base.

  3. Microphones and Boom Arms

Remember when level up in life it also about the quality! Seek black professional podcast microphones mounted on desk attached boom arms. This is a key aspect toward the budget, you can always try different mic setups.

  4. Wall Finish

A smooth charcoal gray paint is used on the top half of the backdrop wall, and vertical dark reclaimed wood slats are added on the bottom half. It's going to bring professionalism to your podcast space. Another layer is adding texture instead of paint; you can opt for exposed concrete-look plaster. It would require more labor, but your guests are going to be impressed either way.

  5. Back Wall Lighting

On an audio platform you could record in the dark and no one would ever know. If you plan to multipurpose your content, lighting is a critical key for videos. Thrive for an integrated warm white LED strip tucked behind the wood slats to achieve an ambient glow. Lighting specification should be within 2700 K- 3000 K LED tape light with a dimmable driver.

  6. Wall Sconces

On the topic of lighting, we would want to add some soft uplighting. This helps the camera focus on the subject, creating contrast with the soft lighting in the background. You will need two wall sconces, matte black cylinder finish.

  7. Flooring

Most people undoubtedly skip flooring. Aim for Commercial-grade woven textile in charcoal gray. This carpet is going to have great acoustic sound absorption and minimizing unwanted sounds being picked up by the microphones.

  8. Coffee Mugs

As people start to open up their hearts, the tea being spilled gets piping hot! These coffee mugs is a consideration gesture, helps keep your guest hydrated and not getting parched - you know it, once that second long sip takes place - “it’s about to GO DOWN” (in my Kevin Hart voice).

  9. Floral Arrangement

Since the overall space is moody, adding floral will add elegance, a lightness and relief to those deep conversations. You would want a small bouquet of white and muted peach roses in a low black ceramic vase, about 5-6” in diameter. If you opt for a much larger bouquet, have it in the background this can help cameras foc’s focus mode on the guest as well.

  10. Accent Pillows

Another way to lighten up the space is by adding pillows in dusty red and muted peach. It will soften the leather armchairs we mentioned earlier. Look for pillows 18” by 18” that are cotton velvet. Did you know that having a soft material can help ease guests' nerves and keep them calm? Well, I don’t know if it's a fact, but I firmly believe it can bring a level of comfort.

Conclusion

Volia! Another Masterpiece has been created. Hopefully, this mood board inspired you to really look at your podcast space with more intention. The color scheme helps set the tone of the space, for those deep conversations, and with different accent pieces, it helps lighten up the space. Having soft-lighting and ambient light adds a professional polish look, which upgrades the outlook of the whole recording experience.

Sometimes, if you want guests to show up, put in the investment to level up your productions, they might even want to reveal more of their story. Promise yourself that you will do it with care and kindness. Your space is an extension of your brand.
