Zoning Reform Enables Faith-Based Institution build Affordable housing on their properties

Montgomery County, Maryland has approved a zoning reform measure that allows churches and other places of worship to build housing on their properties. The measure is known as the Facilitating Affordable Inclusive Transformational Housing (FAITH) Zoning Text Amendment. The measure aims to facilitate the creation of affordable housing and provide flexibility in development standards. Projects will need to meet affordability thresholds and can help address challenges like aging infrastructure and accessibility issues.

Our Thoughts

This is interesting! I do not know for sure but churches often times own many acres of land so to see the church transform this into housing will be a great boost to the local community. Also, helping the faith base inisution give back to the community that it serves every day.
