I have a new love for cooking and curating new dishes. If I could recreate exquisite meals, I would have traveled the world through food! Cooking is also a great stress relief for me. Smelling the aroma throughout the house and hearing the sizzle in the pan makes me excited. When I cook on a gas stove top, I look forward to the fire initiation clicks and that "whoosh" sound! Let the cooking begin. The perfect Kitchen needs to be well planned for. It takes time, research, and experience. How often does the stream fog your vision with a boiling pot of noodles and the sink is on the other side of the Kitchen? Now you are rushing to drain cause you cannot see. The experience in a well-designed kitchen can make the cooking time, preparation, and cleaning much more enjoyable.
What is a Master Chef's Kitchen?
If you have ever watched Hell's Kitchen TV Show led by Gordon Ramsey, one of my favorite shows to watch with my dad. Then you are familiar with some of the high-end appliances used by him and the contestant. A Master Chef's Kitchen is designed to maximize efficiency, Smart technology for precision, and skills to facilitate the preparation of complex and diverse dishes. A commercial kitchen has dedicated stations, such as a cooking station, a baking station, a salad station, and a pastry station. Each of those stations has its own dedicated appliances. Which can be overwhelming, having so many options. So, we will guide you on how to have a Master Chef caliber in your own home.
Space and Layout
To really understand the efficiency of a kitchen layout, you should know the concept called the "Kitchen Work Triangle," which is the shortest walking distance between the Refrigerator, primary food prep sink, and primary cooktop and is measured from the center front of each. The area of the Kitchen Work Triangle should be dedicated to the chef. It is very possible to have more than one work triangle. The most common Kitchen layout is the "U-Shaped" Kitchen, which is also the most efficient due to the Kitchen Work Triangle being surrounded by three wall surfaces with continuous countertops and storage. Foot Traffic Circulation is more naturally directed around the work area. The next layout is called "L-shaped" The cooking area is centered on two adjacent walls. The Kitchen Work Triangle allows Circulation to pass through, also providing continuous countertop space. The alternative is adding a freestanding island with an L-shape. It is more flexible, and the Circulation is more free-flowing around the cooking triangle. The third typical layout is called "A corridor kitchen." The main advantage of this layout is the Kitchen Work Triangle is more closely connected between two walls. However, the disadvantage is Circulation can quickly become congested. The household guests and kitchen chief may work on top of each in a tight space. If there is not enough room, someone could seriously get injured by a boiling pot of oil or water in the path of travel. It is essential to plan for and have ample space for Master Chef and Chef's helpers to prepare food. Once you have established your kitchen work triangle, we can look into the appliances.
Appliances and Equipment
The Kitchen Work Triangle is based on the Refrigerator, stove, and sink. So, we have selected a few primary options you can add to your layout. We have not personally used every item; however, after reading each item's specifications, we are confident it can do the job.
1. Refrigerator: Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator Samsung
By Samsung
The Refrigerator is our first stop. Technology infused into the Refrigerator with a family hub on the panel door. The family hub lets you connect your calendar, stream music, and collage your family photos. It boasts a 32" screen. Includes water dispenser (stay hydrated) and Dual Ice Maker that makes crush or cubed. The finishes are stainless steel. You'll love this four-door. You can store an abundance of food in it.
2. Cooktop: Monogram 36 Inch Wide 5 Element Induction Cooktop
By: Aj Madison
I have recently been introduced to induction cooktops. It is a game changer because the food cooked is more balanced and faster. This is a 36" inch Smart Induction cooktop with five cooking zones. The Smart features are it connects to Wi-Fi, has a control lock, and a touch slider. One unique part is controlling two cooktop zones to create a bigger cooking surface for pans, such as griddles. This is great for versatile and enough cooktop for a chef to cook a gourmet meal.
3. Sink: Elkay Circuit Chef 45-1/2" Undermount Single Basin
This is not an ordinary kitchen sink. It is multipurpose and contains a basin rack, colander, and cutting board. It has an elongated rectangle shape allowing for more dishes placed in the sink without blocking the faucet during use. About 60 inches in length, 21 Inches in width, and 10 inches deep, for installation, it is an under-mount meaning the sink will be installed under the countertop. The Elkay Basin will be able to handle those large pots and pans with ease.
4. Double Oven: 30" Smart Double Wall Oven Samsung
By Samsung
Another product recommendation from Samsung. I have personally used this oven, which is my all-time favorite! The benefit of a double oven is that you can cook two dishes at different temperatures using the Flex Duo feature, like a divider plate that goes into the oven. The steam feature is my favorite; it is convenient when retaining the moisture in my baked salmon. Also, you can bake, broil, and roast with the dual convection oven fans that allow for even cooking. To go for the Kitchen's industrial look, select the Fingerprint Resistant Black Stainless Steel. Life-saving tips do not run the self-cleaning feature simultaneously because it will overheat the motherboard, causing it to fail. We learned from experience by accident the day before Thanksgiving. Other than that is a WIN for any kitchen.
5. Ventilation System: 48" Smart Wall Mount Ducted Hood
Off the bat, I love the sleek design of the range hood. The clean straight lines complement the edginess of a modern industrial kitchen. It is equipped with WI-FI and Bluetooth Connection and LED Lights. The Smart feature in this is it has Auto-Detection of heat, so it will kick on by itself so you can focus on cooking. It is essential to have an adequately ventilated system because it annoys you when the smoke detector goes off in the middle of cooking. Sometimes the cooking experience can become unpleasant if you constantly battle the smoke, and now your whole house is infused with cloud smoke. This ducted hood will prevent changing your cooking experience to be more enjoyable. So, go ahead and add it to your shopping cart.
6. Sous Vide Machine: Anova Precision Cooker Pro
By Amazon
This is new to me. I had never heard of a Sous Vide Machine. I was interested to find out more about it. Which is now considered a MUST-HAVE. It works by circulating heated water in the pot, allowing precise temperature control. This cooking technique helps retain the ingredients' full flavors, color, and nutrients – Viola! A perfect meal every time. The Anova Pro can do the job.
7. Warming Drawers: 30" RISE Warming Drawer
By Jennair
This is another new item; this brings convenience to a drawer. 30" Rise Warming Drawer luxury at its finest. This should be on your Christmas list if you love to roast or bake. Equipped with sensor temperature control, slow roast, and bread-proofing function. Some people use this as an alternative to microwaves, and you can also place your bowls and plates in here. When it is time to serve the food, it's still warm. It is about 30 inches wide and 10 inches tall with a depth of 26 inches. Jennair also has a customizable panel finish to blend into your cabinetry finishes. Your guest will be blown away by your hospitality.
8. Countertop Ice Maker
By Newair
You can never have too much ICE. Even though the Refrigerator has an ice maker, it is still quite handy to have a dedicated one. Sometimes you want a lot of Ice in an instant to chill your wine or fill the punch bowl up. If you were to try this on your Refrigerator, you may be standing there awhile and could empty it and will have to wait a couple of hours for a new batch to be made. All worries are gone by this ice maker; it has a self-cleaning feature and a storage compartment to place the scooper. It can produce 44 pounds of Ice a day with ease. Also, if you are preparing frozen salmon, it is best to defrost it in a tub of Ice at room temperature.
9. Countertop Finishes T16 Series
By Mandi Casa
The Kitchen is the most occupied area of the home. The following items do not change your cooking result, but they significantly impact the cooking experience. We spend a lot of time in the Kitchen, so let it be an inviting, fresh, and modern place to your personal taste. Mandi Casa is an established company that excels in stone, wood, and other fine materials. For the countertop, we recommend the T16 Series (Gres Terra, Gres Osido Bruno or Gres Antracite are my favorite selection finishes) designed by Davide Bot. It is a tempered glass and ceramic finish rich in textures. When you select your countertop, ask for an additional custom piece of the same countertop material as a cutting board. It is a nice touch of personalization. Don't cut corners in material and finishes selections; you want it to last a lifetime, and you can focus on cooking and not constant repairs over the years.
10 and 11 The Wall and Base Cabinetry Finishes RHO series
By Mandi Casa
As for the Wall cabinet, we recommend pairing it with the RHO Modern Kitchen series. Our selection is called Vertical Flamed Noce Canaletto. The wood is top-tier, and the wall cabinet has a seamless edge so it can appear as one unit with open shelves, glass cabinets, and black anodized aluminum frames. As for the Base Cabinet, you want to consider the Stone Smoke Finish. I love this because it has streaks of white and clashes of grey/white that look like smoke, giving it an earthy and ground feeling. Stone is very durable for daily usage and eye-catching. Now your kitchen cabinetry is one of a kind!
Other Considerations
Here are a few more items to add to your board: Storage and Organization, Utensils, and Lighting. There are many more items to cover. These are basic to get you close to a Master Chef kitchen. For storage, consider having ample room for a panty or walk-in storage room to store bulk-sized items. These rooms should be adjacent to the Kitchen's main layout; you do not want to carry 40 pounds of flour across your living room. Many utensil gadgets make cooking more accessible and fun. Another main component is lighting. You want different layers of lighting for task lighting, under cabinetry light, ambient lighting of the whole space, and accent lighting. These are guaranteed to change the ambiance of your Kitchen to the next level.
Conclusion
The Master Chef Kitchen is complete with a 5-course meal ready to serve! Your guests will be impressed the moment they walk into your Kitchen. The technology in each appliance makes it a smart device that alerts you with new updates. So you never overcook again, and more time is returned to preparation and cooking. We encourage you to look for ways to personalize your Kitchen with photos or customize kitchen floor mats. Having the right appliance and equipment will elevate your cooking to the next level. As for finishes, consider durability, functionality, and aesthetics pleasing to the eye. I encourage you to pin, save, and download my mood board for inspiration to elevate your next Kitchen Design.
