The Creativite Mix: Orange, Pineapple infused with Hibiscus Tea

Some of the best ideas come while working in the studio.

During a design session, I had a simple thought: What if I infused fresh juice with my favorite hibiscus tea? I wasn't sure how the flavors would come together, but curiosity won, so I gave it a try.

The result honestly surprised me. The bright citrus from the oranges, the natural sweetness of the pineapple, and the floral notes of the hibiscus created a refreshing drink that felt both energizing and relaxing. It quickly became one of my favorite studio refuels, and I hope you'll enjoy it just as much.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oranges (reserve the peels)

  • 1 fresh pineapple (reserve the peels)

  • 2 hibiscus tea bags

  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric

  • 1 Ceylon cinnamon stick

  • 1 lemon (optional)

  • Fresh ginger (optional, for a spicy kick)

Steps:

  1. Wash and prepare the fruit. Peel and cut the oranges and pineapple into pieces suitable for your slow juicer. Set the peels aside.

  2. Juice the oranges and pineapple using a slow juicer.

  3. In a saucepan, bring water to a gentle boil. Add the hibiscus tea bags, reserved orange and pineapple peels, turmeric, and the Ceylon cinnamon stick.

  4. Reduce the heat and let the mixture gently simmer for about 15 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.

  5. Remove from the heat and strain the tea, discarding the peels, cinnamon stick, and tea bags.

  6. Fill a highball glass about two-thirds full with ice.

  7. Pour in the fresh orange and pineapple juice, then top with the infused hibiscus tea. Stir gently to combine.

  8. Add fresh lemon juice or ginger if you'd like an extra burst of brightness or spice.

Drink Score: ★★★★★

Why I love this:

This has become one of my favorite drinks to enjoy while designing. It's naturally vibrant and refreshing, with a perfect balance between fresh fruit juice and herbal tea. Whether you're working on creative projects, relaxing after a long day, or simply looking for something different, this blend is a wonderful way to slow down and recharge.

Studio Refuel Tip: Make a larger batch of the infused hibiscus tea and refrigerate it. When inspiration strikes, simply mix it with freshly pressed juice for a quick, refreshing drink.
