Introduction
The saying is, "A glass of red wine keeps the doctor away." I cannot confirm nor deny if that statement is indeed true. Have you ever considered having a personalized wine cellar room, a place to build upon a new hobby of becoming a wine collector. A wine Cellar Room in a residential home often has one storage unit or a dedicated wine display wall. Check this out. I will level it up by designing a full-size room that can hold up to at least 100 bottles of Wine. Granted, that's a lot of bottles, but living your best life is to live it grand, right?! Why not?!
Design Considerations
Collecting Wine is a leisure hobby I enjoy during my downtime. Three critical factors to wine collection are controlling temperature, humidity, and storage. Coordinating with your mechanical engineer to determine a reliable cooling system and space required is best. The design should maintain a consistent temperature between 55-59°F (12-15°C). Additionally, control the humidity levels between 50-70% to prevent the Wine corks from drying out. Having proper insulation and ventilation can aid in achieving a successful wine cellar room. The third design concept to consider is storage and display racks. To prevent your new wine cellar room from looking like a dungeon, balance storage units, display units, and wall space. To make the wine cellar room an inviting space and attractive, have a series of display options to showcase your Wine. For example, wooden wine racks or countertop wine holders. Did you know that the orientation and position of the bottle can impact the aging of your Wine? You will have to store your wine bottle on its side or horizontally so the Wine can keep in contact with the cork to prevent it from drying out. If it does dry out, it can lead to air leakage and oxidation of the Wine. So, protect your investment and store the Wine correctly! Being able to control temperature and humidity and having the right storage units can elevate your wine cellar room and, most importantly, your wine-tasting experience.
Mood Board Collection
Through The Wall Cooling Unit
By CellarPro
As discussed, controlling the temperature and humidity is key to a thriving wine cellar. This unit by CellarPro 1800QTL can do the job. This cooling unit is considered to be an investment in your home. The purpose of the wall colling unit is to maintain a consistent and controlled temperature within the cellar room. This unit comes with a control LED display panel along with a remote. Note that this equipment does require fresh air intake to release the heat generated by the unit. I recommend mounting the unit on a wall exposed to the home's exterior.
Pendant Lighting
By Luztra Iluminacion
Once the room is temperature controlled, let's focus on setting the room's vibe. I recommend pendant lighting. It is a 30k Chrome LED light. It has a stylish and clean look supporting the industrial Modern Homestyle finishes. Since Wine goes back to ancient times, this pendant light is similar to the looks of an antique lantern; however, it is modern in style with a touch of elegance. Which will pair perfectly with a date night and a well-aged glass of Wine.
Wine Glass Ceiling Storage Rack
By Furniture Kitchen & Dining Furniture
Before you can have the first sip of your favorite Wine of the night. We need glasses, and nobody wants to make several trips to the kitchen to gather glasses for the guests. I found a contemporary metal wine glass rack mounted to the ceiling or to the underside of cabinets. It is about 31 inches long, 11 inches wide, and 3 inches tall without the glasses. You can store about a dozen wine glasses, which is more than enough for a small gathering of friends.
Wine Cellar Cooler
By EuroCave
Now, let's get into wine storage! After all, this is a wine cellar room. I present the EuroCave Revelation Wine Cellar. This is also an investment purchase to your overall wine collection. This is a refrigerator cooler unit. You no longer need to place your wine bottles on ice. Here is a wine tip: freeze grapes and add to your wine glass instead of ice cubes for the ice cubes can water down your Wine over time. The Wine Cellar Cooler also comes with soft-close shelves which allows quiet and smooth handling of your wine bottles. My favorite feature of this unit is its illuminating cellar display and LED lighting, making showcasing your Wine as easy as ever. The company also boasts a five-year warranty at the time of this writing.
Wine Cellar Rack

Another option for wine storage is a 7-column standard storage unit. These units are available in various numbered columns stacks arrangement. Built-in solid wood is about 30 inches in width, 77 inches in height, and 11 inches deep. The 7-column tier has a bottle capacity of 126 bottles! One cool factor is that the racks are modular, so you can order as many as you need to fill your collection. This effortless storage unit easily holds over 100 bottles of Wine. As for the finishes, it is available in 28 wood stain options.
Wood Gathering Table
By Daniel House (Karina Living)
Consider adding a gathering table depending on how much room you plan on dedicating to the wine cellar room. I suggest having a Camila 60-inch rectangular reclaimed teak waterfall dining counter table. I believe it pairs beautifully with bar stools; we will discuss more later. A gathering table is great for turning your room into a multifunction space and not limited to only storage. This table can host those business meetings and maybe your own wine-tasting event, even for a special someone on an exclusive date night.
Floor Finish Concrete Tiles
By Atlas Concorade
I highly recommend a concrete tile floor finish. It is a durable material that can handle high-traffic circulation. Also, if Wine happens to spill on the floor, there is ease in cleaning the floor. The tile collection is called Canone Inverso 4 with a matte finish. I genuinely like this floor tile because of its irregular tile patterns and the balance to the overall room design that gives the vibes of Industrial Modern Style.
Bar Stools
By Modern Interiors
You probably can envision how the wine cellar room is evolving into a work of art. The solid oak table I mentioned before will pair well with red metal bar stools. I prefer the Dallas Wire Handle Back Bar Stool because it is a stylish and modern seating option for bars, kitchens, or other high-top areas. It features a unique design with a wire handle backrest that adds a contemporary touch to the wine cellar room. The bar stool is constructed with a sturdy metal frame, providing durability and stability. The frame gives a polished and sophisticated look. The seating is typically made of molded plastic or upholstered with cushioning for added comfort. It is designed to provide ergonomic support, allowing future guests to sit comfortably for extended periods.
Shantell Martin Artwork
By Shantell Martin
Art is part of life, so have it part of your home. I have met Shantell Martin at her opening art exhibit gallery in Boston, MA. She is a British Visual Artist known for her unwieldy style of black-and-white line drawings. It was a great experience seeing her art on display. I look forward to meeting her again. Her work is inspiring, and honestly, during that time of my life, I was in college, and her artwork felt like a mirror of my state of mind. Her art invokes questions: "Who are you? Are you you?" These questions have stayed with me over the years as I strive daily to answer them. It was also a great conversation starter for deep connections with your guests and visually captivating.
Roses Bouquet – Deliciously Decadent Red Roses
By 1-800-Flowers
This item is not an essential décor. However, it will elevate the room's mood, especially if you plan to have an intimate date night in the wine cellar room. I have personally ordered these flowers. They were available for the next day shipping via FedEx. The rose comes in budding, making it a long-lasting flower display until it reaches full bloom. There is also an option when placing your order to add amazing chocolate-covered strawberries. You can also take advantage of these roses as a gift to someone special for Valentine's Day.
Wine 1 - Amy and Peter Made This 2015
Pinot Noir
By Amy and Peter
So, this is one of my favorites because the people behind the Wine are just as amazing as the Wine. I have virtually met Amy and Peter through a course, and Amy spoke with passion behind her knowledge of Wine. Amy and Peter make and package their own Wine, which was made with care and dedication. Their grapes come from organically farmed Radian Vineyard, located at the western edge of Santa Rita Hills in California. Enjoy and join their wine club subscription list start building up your wine collection like me.
Wine 2 - Stella Rosa Rosso
By Stella Rosa Wines
This next Wine was a recommendation from a friend. I have not tried it yet, but I plan to soon. I gathered the following about Stella Rosa Rosso wine. It is a semi-sweet red wine known for its approachable and easy-drinking nature. It offers a smooth and velvety texture with a medium-bodied profile. The taste of Stella Rosa Rosso is characterized by ripe red berries, such as strawberries and raspberries, which give it a juicy and fruity flavor. You may also notice hints of blackberry and plum, adding a touch of richness to the Wine. It has a balanced level of sweetness that is not overpowering, making it a popular option for those who prefer a sweeter red wine.
Wine 3 - Sutter Home Moscato
By Sutter Home
There are so many wines I would love to introduce to you too. Maybe I'll curate my top ten wines in the following few blogs. However, this next one is actually and common, everyday staple wine. It is beginner-friendly if you are starting out your wine collection. Sutter Home Moscato is known for its delightfully sweet and refreshing profile. It has a light and crisp mouthfeel with a gentle effervescence that adds a touch of liveliness to each sip. The primary flavors you can expect from this Wine are juicy peach, ripe apricot, and luscious melon, which come together to create a fruity and tropical experience. Additionally, you may notice a subtle floral aroma that enhances the overall sensory experience.
Conclusion
Like DJ Khaled would say, "Major Key Alert" that is to regulate the wine cellar room temperature to prevent premature aging or spoilage of your wine collection. If you were ever looking for a sign to start a wine collection, here is your proof: order some bottles! Have fun and relax in your well-designed, dedicated wine cellar room for personal enjoyment. Consider attending a wine-tasting class and getting exposed to the world of Wine. I promise you will appreciate the finer things in life afterward. Feel free to reach out to me for consultation.
