Your body is still tense from the long day of demands and paperwork. While sitting there two options pops up in your mind one “should I work out or hit the steam room?” You decided the steam room. For it becoming your favorite place in the whole house. Alert on your phone pops up Calendar Event “Dinner Date at 8 pm at the Hyatt” glance at the clock you realize it is 7:12 pm, you think about it and say “I only need 10 minutes of steam.” Few moment later at click of a button ‘sssshhhh’ a steam cloud take over the bathroom suite. In this blog I’m going help you design a luxurious steam room in the bathroom suite. Consider these options when designing for your new house. Remember 10 minutes is all you need for ultimate relaxation. Let’s get started for we have a date to get too.
Benefits of a Steam Room
A steam room is a heated area enclosed space that produces steam by releasing Hot water steam. As result this high humidity environment that can help to relax the body, open up pores and the body begins to sweating. The steam is often produced by a steam generator, that is connected to a water supply and steam is released into the room through direct line creating a warm, soothing atmosphere is a great addition to your bathroom suite. There a few design considerations to beware of such as the moisture levels. So it essential for proper water proofing is key. There are so many health benefits from using a steam room. It bring harmony out of the chaos of your day. The aroma from the stream can help clear your mind. Design Consideration
The following recommendations I have not personally experienced but after reading the specifications I have the confidence in the products it will work. As always these are suggestions and you are not limited to these selections. Please keep in mind that when choosing any materials makes sure it durable and resistant to moisture. When choosing the steam generator review the size coverage, power requirements, and control options. As for the layout and spacing framing should be made of preservative treated wood. Steam room are often times on the smaller size due to the steam generator coverage area and persons capacity. I am designing for room size of 7 feet in height, 12 feet in length and 6 feet wide. Is suited for minimum of two people. At 122 square feet, which is more than enough room for a residential home. We selected the Pro III number 140 based off the layout design describe in this blog. Maxium room size cubic feet of 140. The model number reference the total maximum area the machine can cover. The Thermasol steam generator is compatible with it other devices. The steam generator will need at minimumal 6 inches of Wall clearance enclosed space that adjacent to the steam room. For it size it 14 inches tall and 23 inches wide while it 18 inches long.
Aroma Essence Oils and Carriers

My personal favorite is Eucalyptus and Lavender oils. Oil aroma is a completely a personal choice. I recommend the Ark a therapy Discovery Set. The set has 5 oil collections to awaken your senses and uplift your mood. For sleep it called Blue Moon which has a blend of blue cedar, Lavender and Eucalyptus. For Energy called California Love blends of green tea, lemongrass, and Lily. For Focus called Sunrise with blend of grapefruit, lemon, and ginger. The next one is called Across the Universe for relaxation contains Eucalyptus, Citrus, and soft florals. The last one is called Desert Rose for evoking love it has Oud wood, Damask Rose, and Clove. Along with Aroma Therapy there is music therapy to aide in relaxation. This is Adding Mother Nature sounds such as rain, or white noise can elevate your experience while in the steam room. Listening to soft rain sounds, ocean waves or you favorite song can help you into a more relax state of mind. I selected white as the finish color to blend in with our overall design. These speakers are waterproof and weight about 5 pounds each. The overall sizes is it about 8 inches wide and 13 inches inches length and about 7 inches inches tall. Having these speakers will level your steam room to personal spa retreat.

We learned about Aroma therapy and music therapy, there is also color therapy. Good lighting will help prevent the growth of mold in dark spaces. Installation Process Considerations
Always hire a licensed contractor. You can check their statutes with the state to confirm if they are in good standing and no claims are against them. However it does not confirm their craftsmanship, so call their references and if possible see their work in person. If hiring a contractor is not an option this project is do it yourself friendly but it always best to leave it to the professionals. You need to coordinate with an Eletrican and a Plumber. You may need permits and required inspections. However, if you a Owner Builder in process of building your next custom house you are at right stage of planning. Double check with your local building codes for minimum requirements needed prior to installation. The number one factor is protecting the space from water penetration and moisture control to ensure the longevity of stream room.
